Singing/Working (more) Safely in a Pandemic

Some of us are heading back to the classroom/office/venue for in-person instruction/work/performance. We often feel powerless to protect ourselves. I have found that information about best practices for indoor transmission reduction is often cluttered and contradictory because Covid-19 is still so novel. Also, there has been both general panic and a rush to get back in the game in the music/education worlds. I have been reading (a lot) and implementing changes to my teaching and performing routine over the last few months, and I want to share my recommendations. I hope to empower us to build a better anti-coronavirus toolkit for ourselves and others. Here are my thoughts about what we need to focus on to lower Covid-19 transmission when indoors, at the height of the pandemic and "pandemic fatigue." Step 1. First and foremost, I am a musician. I sing, teach, coach, and occasionally conduct. There are always thoughts running around in my head about singing, music, food, laughter, dysfunction, excellence, shoes, etc. I love non-linear thought at the absolute chagrin of my husband.
